Why now? Why at all? Well, I have decided to go on an adventure of a lifetime, traveling half way across the world via the Trans-Siberian rail! It's something I have been looking to do only recently and never had the inclination to travel across Europe and into Asia.

But while sat in my rather fetching Hotel room overlooking the engineering masterpiece that is the Forth Rail Bridge I think, there’s a lot more to this world that just the UK. I have traveled the length and breath of the UK with work, seeing many different ways of life, from the very south of England all the way up to the far reaches of Scotland and I feel it's just the right time to see the ever changing world in which we reside.

My journey will take me from Wigan to London to Cologne to Moscow to Beijing all via train and taking the longest train journey in the world on board, the Trans-Siberian express. I always think of Outer Mongolia being a phrase that we all use to describe somewhere in the middle of no where but stop right there, I shall be traveling through the place! This excites me, Russia, Mongolia and the Gobi Desert, what more can someone ask for and all this on a train!

Well, my planning has already begun, a hotel for the last leg of my journey in Beijing has been reserved, the rest is yet to come......
